Anna and the French KissAnna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I never dreamed of seeing Paris till this book! I am not the biggest fan of chic lit. I find most novels sappy, over dramatic, and well cheesy. There are a few authors and novels I do enjoy; and Anna and the French Kiss beats them all! This is in the top list of favorite YA novels now and I am dyeing to read the companion Lola and the Boy Next Door. At first I was not to sure I would like it, I was at the store and trying to decide if I should just buy it and do the novel of the month or blow it off. I am not the type to blow off a challenge so I purchased it and headed home. The book caught me from the start and I was flipping pages fast to see what happened to Anna and St. Claire. There was sap yes, but the right amount. There was also drama and cheese, but they were done realistically. That is the perfect word, realistic! The world, the people, the love, it was all realistic. Her characters came to life, they were perfect because they were so imperfect. They had flaws like people do, flaws that made them feel real and three dimensional, flaws I fell in love with. The book was coming to life before my eyes and I was both happy and sad when I reached the end because that was it. There was no more Anna and St. Claire story. This author is brilliant and I cannot wait to read more of her work. This is a must read!
